pubsub frequently doesnt send to subscribers

Hi there!

We have the latest Openfire version 3.9.3. We are using pubsubs for lots of purposes, but we've faced strange behavior - somtimes subscribers dont receive pubsub notifications. During our investigation we found out that seems like clearing all cache do the trick.

Here is an example of the stanza

<iq id="uxTFG-4" type="set">

   <pubsub xmlns="http://jabber.org/protocol/pubsub">

      <publish node="http://jabber.org/protocol/scsettings">

         <item id="o8acGo0">

            <scsettings xmlns="http://jabber.org/protocol/scsettings">

               <scsupported>true</scsupported>

               <formyeyes>false</formyeyes>

               <email>false</email>

               <rooted>true</rooted>

               <ptt>true</ptt>

               <headset>false</headset>

               <files>true</files>

               <photo>true</photo>

               <video>true</video>

               <nickname />

            </scsettings>

         </item>

      </publish>

   </pubsub>

</iq>

and here is example of debug log message regarding pubsub

Access messages in database

I'm using OpenFire to perform testing with the app we developed.

You can access messages saved in the database?

I can for example make a connection in the bank and run a "SELECT" comand sql?

If so where can I find the documentation?

3.9.1 Linux - Connection Issues 1 Subnet

Hi All,

Not sure if anyone can help me with this as it makes no sense to me. We have 1200-1500 people on Openfire at any given time but one of our buildings some users have issues connecting. They login and it boots them out right away but the kicker is if I restart the openfire service they can connect for 3-5 days but then it starts all over again.

I've turned off IP tables on the server, I thought maybe the firewall was doing it but it is not.

There is no hardware firewalls between the building in question and the building the server is in.

Other people in the building with the issues can connect but they are on different subnets.

Is there something in Openfire which could be holding open connections from these people so when they try to connect it thinks they are already online and boots them back off. Restarting the Openfire service seems to reset this for a period of time.

Thanks.

Open fire application gets crashed

Dear Sir,

I have installed Openfire server in Windows 2008 R2 server and currently about 250 users are concurrently logged in. however when ever i re-start the server (Hard Reset) the Openfire Admin console is going to setup mode and i have to re-run the setup again. Please kindly tell me a solution for this as it is very critical for our user login.

Thanks

PacketFiltering

Hello all,

We have create some bots to connect on openfire and few days ago we have an issue that bots could not connect on the openfire.

I check the logs and I found the below.

2014.08.05 11:16:00 org.jivesoftware.openfire.interceptor.InterceptorManager - Error in interceptor: org.jivesoftware.openfire.plugin.PacketFilterPlugin@2f12295c while intercepting:

  <error code="400" type="modify">

  </error>

</message>

Is it possible packetfiltering prevents the bots resource to reconnect on OpenFire?

Authentication error -- Session not found

Hello all,

I have Openfire version 3.9.3 and in the logs I found

org.jivesoftware.openfire.handler.IQAuthHandler - Error during authentication. Session not found in [c252bad6, 8cb4499b, 6435e8be, aee91f82, a561649, d70bb256, 4aca6db3] for key p623290@{company_name}/android

I count 89 of "Session not found in".

My questions are:

1) Is it possible to have any issues as long as those sessions errors increases?

2) How can I clean those errors? Tried by restarting Openfire and did not work

3) How many session can openfire handle?

Thank you,

George

Openfire Voice/Video Stream via StunServer with NAT enabled network

I want to establish a video/voice connection between two clients behind NAT. I have learned some technologies such as STUN, TURN ,ICE which are used to make voice chat possible between clients behind NAT.

I have many question about this configuration.

1-  I have installed jingle node, and stun plugin. So How client detects which jingle node will be used? As far as I know STUN server detect media server which is jingle node itself so which STUN configuration is send to the clients?

2- How client get media server from STUN server? What is the additional features of client have for this kind of network topology?

Can you give me an step by step infomation about that conguration and draw a picture for this network topology?

Thanks.

Missing Groups in Rosters and Groups Duplicated in Search Results

I had the pleaure of upgrading to Openfire 3.93 this morning.  And while the upgrade process went quite well,we have come across some annoying issues:

1) Users are unable to all the groups listed in rosters as they did before.  They will see say, 5 out of 7 groups in their rosters.

2) When I do a group search (for the groups missing from users' rosters), it lists the searched-for group twice in the search results (but shows the correct number of members).

For instance, I search for Group XX on the Admin console.

Total Groups: 2  Search by Name GroupXX                      :
1 Group XX
426 0
2 Group XX
426 0

I am drawing roster/group info from a Win2008 Domain.  The groups are in a sub/trusted domain.  The users in the "missing" groups are unable to the groups (and groupd members shared with them and vice versa.  This was not an issue before the upgrade.

How can a group show up 2 (more than once) in a search?   I am guessing this has an effect on users' rosters (#1).

Any idea of what's going on here.

Host:  Windows Server 2003 R2

Random Openfire Stability Issues

Hello All,

So let me start with a little background. Our company has been using the Openfire Spark combo for sometime now. I have been with the company since last December. One of my first tasks was to update and setup Openfire using an MySQL Database instead of the built in database. I followed the great documentation and support threads here on the site and was successful in my endeavors. This was a combo of Openfire 3.9.1 and Spark 2.6.3, and it worked flawlessly. However about 3 weeks ago now, I had logged into the Admin console to look into how I could incorporate  a specific AD group instead of all users in our tree. When viewing the AD configuration info it cleared the host dn, admin dn, etc. Well since it had been a while since I configured it and I am not a AD guru, I struggled with this for a while until finally I was able to realize that I had added to much to the host dn. Problem solved I thought and because of the struggle abandoned the idea about the specific group for the time being. However since then we have had many issues with Openfire stability. Quite regularly users who shut their machines down at night will not be able to log in, however if a users was left logged in overnight they can still send and recieve messages freely until they sign out. Stopping and starting the service and redoing the configuration will sometimes solve the issues but not always. We have since moved the install to another machine that has no other real services or apps running on it to see if the issues was from something else on the machine, this also didnt work. We have updated Openfire to 3.9.3 and still see the issue. I have some error logs from this morning that I will post as I am not savvy with code. Please any help or suggestions would be greatly appriceated.

Importing UCC certificates into OpenFire

Hey all,

I'm a bit confused about the process of importing a UCC cert into Openfire. I've got a UCC cert from GoDaddy that we've used on a number of other servers in our environment that I'd like to import. I've already added GoDaddy's intermdiate cert to the TrustStore, and I've imported the actual .crt file into the Keystore per the instructions in the SSL Guide, but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do about the private key- the SSL Guide doesn't mention anything about that part of the process.

I've also tried using the import-certificate.jsp page, but that never seems to work, either. Plus since I've got a UCC cert, when I look at the file itself, there are multiple entries containing BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- and -----END CERTIFICATE, so I don't think the import-certificate.jsp page likes that.

When I try using the keytool to import the original exported PFX file from my Windows server, I get an error stating that it's not an X.509 certificate. I've tried converting the thing to a .PEM and a .DER, but everytime I try importing those files, I get that same error about it not being an X.509 cert.

Any help here would be much appreciated!

Groups not working

I have been researching this for hours and tried numerous ideas from the forums with no luck.

My goals:

  1. we have about 15 users that I want to create user accounts for and have the login information be the same as their domain account
  2. Have a few different departments to organize people (low priority)
  3. Have a group called (spark in my case) that has everyone in it

Current configuration:

  1. I have configured LDAP integration and I can see all of my user accounts
  2. I can add people one by one to each account to have everyone show up as offline (people don't show up online but you can message them even though they are offline)
  3. Created a security group in AD called Spark Group that has 5 members in it and I want that group to be displayed in Openfire, when editing the group, I click all users and no one shows up, I try to select users and it won't let me select users. Not sure where to go from here.

The last step I am stuck on is how to group (even if just one big group) for everyone to see every time they log on without any special configuration or adding every user to every other user's account roster. Please anyone have a suggestion?

AD - 2500+ users

Hello!

I have openfire 3.9.3 / windows server 2008r2 / mysql and many many groups and users.

Problem:

I in AD have 2500+ users. OpenFire doesn't want to show more than 1000 users.

And also groups the containing more than 1000 users, too don't work absolutely.

It is necessary for me what all users - saw all other users. One general group  (AD\All Domain users).
